Jesus Teaches About the New Life

John 3

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. – John 3:5

Were you baptized when you were an infant? I was. Did it make you a true believer and a disciple of Christ? I doubt it. For it really takes a spiritually mature person to decide when he or she should be baptized.

When I was submerged in water, looking back, I’m not really sure if I have entered the kingdom of our Father. Or, if ever I was completely born again. This is so, because I continued to live like the rest of the world. I didn’t show I was a new being. Though I was certain of my salvation, something was missing. It was the Holy Spirit. It wasn’t with me because I was still living sinfully. I wasn’t seeking it the way a new being should.

When was the last time you reminded yourself that you are a spirit? Have you acknowledged the existence of the kingdom of God? When was the last time you called the Holy Spirit to your aid? Are you now living spiritually and for eternity?

Glory to the Father.

Received Jesus as the only way to salvation on September 25, 2010.

Baptized on June 18, 2011

Cycles of Disobedience

Judges 2:10-19

Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the LORD had compassion on them as they groaned under those who oppressed and afflicted them. – Judges 2:18

How many times have we sinned? How much more of God‘s compassion do we need to seriously turn to Him? What do we need to repent?

I have fallen so many times. I am just thankful that God is patient and is full of grace. He has given me more time to repent and turn to Him. Are you doing the same thing?

I think I’ve said this before in one of my older posts. Currently, I am a bank’s slave. This is so because I turned away from God, followed my own appetites and got in to debt. I think I was serving the god of materialism. Now, I am crying out and turned to God so that He can free me from this bondage or slavery. I know I will be delivered soon. I just hope I won’t fall again in to the enemy’s trap. Will you please pray for me?

Are you serving other gods? Wouldn’t you want to be free? How can I pray for you today?

Glory to God?

Punishments for Sin Under Law

Leviticus 20:7-17

“Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy.” Leviticus 20:7-8

What are you doing lately to set yourselves apart for Him? How does one consecrate himself?

Keeping one’s body healthy may be one option. If a person wants to be holy, he needs to keep his body healthy. He needs to have proper nutrition. Is it not difficult to do God’s work if you’re heavy? If you always feel tired, do you think you have the energy to do all the spiritual practices?

So, what are you doing today to set yourself apart from this world?

Fall of Humanity

Genesis 3:1-19

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. – Genesis 3:6

Ever wondered how we start to sin? In this verse, God revealed it all starts from one look. Here’s the anatomy of sin: S.T.A.G.

  1. See
  2. Think
  3. Acquire
  4. Give

Way back in high school or college. I remember myself watching pornography. At first glance (‘see’) it seems harmless. It’s just like any movie with people not having clothes on. The more I look at the photos or titles of the movie, the more I ‘think’ about it. After thinking about it and decided on a tape, (back then it was in VHS or betamax format) I decide to ‘acquire’ it and watch it. Anyway, after acquiring and watching it, I ‘give’ or share it with my buddies.

May God forgive me for all my transgressions! For I really don’t know how many times I’ve stumbled.

Now do you see how sin not only corrupts one person? Most of the time you take someone with you when you sin.

I pray you learned from my mistakes and vow to try not to sin again. It’s going to be difficult, but with God’s grace everything is possible.

Glory to God.

Originator of Prophesy

Isaiah 53:1-12

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. – Isaiah 53:6

Here’s a God-given prophesy for our eternal lives… It is certain that if we keep turning away from God and keep choosing our earthly ways instead of His, we die and go to hell. But if we accept Jesus Christ as our only lord and savior, we live and have eternal life in heaven.

During my childhood years, I remember a palm reader and soothsayer often visits us at our family’s compound. She’s there to make a living telling everyone about their futures. She read everyone’s palms and confidently predicted our fate. I clearly remember her saying: “Ah, this boy will marry someone from a different country for he will be a pilot who will go around the globe.” It really sounded good that time. But the false prophet’s prophesy didn’t come true. I was a fool for believing her even for a short time.

So, dear friend, don’t waste anymore your resources going to these kinds of people. For your guess may be better than theirs. I submit to you God’s prophesy. It already has stood the test of time.

Are you still like a lost sheep? Please accept Jesus as your lord and savior now.

Glory to God.

Refuge

Psalm 18:1-50

Who do you run to first in times of trouble? There was a time in my life where I tried to drown my sorrows with alcohol. It didn’t do me any good. Sorrows are still there and you’ll feel even worse in the morning.

The moment I turned to God and decided to make him my refuge. That’s when my life became quiet or peaceful. In the picture above, if you notice, when you build a structure on top of a rock, even if it is surrounded by violent waves of water, it’ll remain upright and solid.

Dear friend, if you haven’t built your life with God as your foundation, I ask you to reconsider. You wouldn’t want to build your house on soft soil, do you? Why would you want to build your life on something unreliably unstable?

Glory to God.

Rewarder of Faithfulness

Job 42:7-17

The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. – Job 42:7

Job’s story will forever remind me that God rewards the faithful. I acknowledge that rewards may not come here, on earth. For it may come during eternity. Only God knows. But, I’m confident that the faithful shall be rewarded.

My wife and I recently decided to do our daily devotions before the sun rises. We decided we should put our spiritual practices, like reading the bible, first thing in the morning. “No bible, no breakfast!” is the policy here at home. Ever since we applied Matthew 6:33 in our lives, and faithfully seeking him first before anything else, that’s when all the rewards started to come. This is when our lives became better.

What’s your story? How were you rewarded because of your faithfulness?

Glory to God
