GAYUMA in Sikatuna?

Two nights ago, my younger brother Jericho went home with a flier.  A flier from Gayuma ni Maria, The Lifestyle Restaurant.  I could not believe it at first.  I Asked him: “Is it the same as the one in Esteban Abada, Xavierville?”  My bro said: “Yep, indeed it is.”

So, good news neighbors and fans of Gayuma.  The Lifestyle Restaurant is now along Maginhawa Street, Sikatuna Village.  25 – 50 meters away from Save More Supermart.

Try their Tuliro, a bed of nachos and lettuce topped with braised beef slivers and a succulently sinful sour cream and cheese dip.

Regulars from the old branch knows their popular cakes such as Pavlova and Better Than Sex (B.T.S.) cakes.  By the way, (B.T.S.) is now known as Beats Sex Anyday (B.S.A.), a rich chocolate mercilessly toppped with butterscotch, cream and chocolate bits.  Some say it should be named Best With Sex.  I don’t think so though.  But, if you’re a sadomasochist and would like to gag with thick chocolate, it’s up to you. lol

Try it out and let me know.

IRR of RESA Law Published

The Professional Regulatory Board of Real Estate Service (PRBRES) / The “Board”, under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) / The “Commission” published the much anticipated and heavily talked about Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 9646, Known as The “Real Estate Service Act of The Philippines”.

After reading Realtor Mentor M. Bocaling’s facebook shoutout: “

To all Real Estate Service Practitioners, the IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS (IRR) of R.A. 9646 is suppose to be out today at the Daily Inquirer and Star. Please grab your copy and go over the IRR.”

I immediately ran out and got myself a copy.

Rule.1.Sec.2 states: …and enhancing government income from real property-based transactions…  After reading this, my initial reaction was: “Oh no!  Does this mean more taxes for me?”

Then I reached: Rule.2.Sec.5.(h) PRBRES to safeguard and protect legitimate and licensed Real Estate Practitioners (RESPRAC) and completely eradicate the pernicious practices of unauthorized or unlicensed individuals;  My take: “I sure do hope so… I pay taxes to hopefully help the government clean the industry.  I’m happy to pay the government because ultimately they are there to protect me and my trade.  So, I encourage other RESPRACs to diligently and honestly do the same.”

What do you think dear brothers and sisters of the trade?  Are you willing to pay more taxes diligently and honestly to help our country and ultimately ourselves?

Seven Things… Realtor

Dear Realtors,

Kindly share this with your clients and share additional advice at the comments section below.

  1. Hire a licensed Realtor working full time. Full service means the broker is working for you whenever you are in need. Full time brokers are best prepared to resolve problems that crop up during negotiations and inspections as well as those that occur after the purchase.
  2. Hire a Realtor with passion, enthusiasm and dedication. This is the broker who goes the extra mile to get the best results, even with the going gets tough.
  3. Hire a market savvy Realtor. Consistent sales in a given neighborhood reveals geographic market smarts that can save money. Knowledge is key.
  4. Hire a tech-savvy Realtor. Most home transactions today begin on the Internet. All eventually get a technology assist.
  5. Hire a team player. A real estate broker with a network of professionals at his disposal can take the screws out of finding a good handyman, insurance agent, mortgage broker, home inspector or a variety of other home buying and owning professionals you will need.
  6. Hire a well-respected or ethical Real Estate Broker.  These are Realtors who only deal with trustworthy, licensed, and ethical professionals.
  7. Hire a Realtor who you feel you can trust.

Crave Burger, or Goodburgers?

Good news, neighbors.  Crave Burger is in the hood.  Actually, it’s old news because their cashier said they started operation about a month ago.  I did not have my camera when I passed.  So, I don’t have photos to show.  Anyway, they are open daily from 11:00H - 24:00H.  You can find them at 154 Maginhawa Street, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.  Here’s their number for more info: 435-4088 / 400-3690.  Should you decide to drop by, try their Crave Ultimate Burger.

As most my friends know, I love burgers.  It is probably one of the reasons why I can’t stay a vegetarian.  Today, I am craving for one, maybe two, belly busting burger.  Eating a vegan burger at 162 Maginhawa, Goodburgers, is an option.  But, do I really like to eat the same “healthy burger” again?  I’m really tempted to give in to my authentic, beef craving.  By the way, should you decide to drop by Goodburgers Maginhawa, try their Margherita or Persian Burger.  Call them at 435-4663 for more details.

So, stick with GOODBURGERS or support the new burger joint in the hood, CRAVE BURGER?  One more thing, I’m searching for the biggest and tastiest burger in the Philippines.  Any suggestions?

FREE Wellness Activities @ QC Circle

An exercise tip: If you really intend to run, join a marathon and avoid venues with too much cafes or restaurants.

When was the last time you visited the Quezon City Circle?  For better photos, click here.  My late father brought me and my siblings there during our childhood for bike rides.  During that time, that was the only activity available.  Now, they have more activities to offer.  Aerobics and ballroom classes, badminton, basketball, etc.  They even got Nestle to host Free wellness activities all around the monument’s compound.  Below are the list of venues where Nestle provide their free wellness activities.  I’ll just let the photo speak for itself, ayt?

To enlarge photo, click it.

At 6 in the morning, today, my mom asked me to drive for my youngest brother.  She asked me to bring him there for his daily exercise.  I obliged with the intention of doing my own physical activity which is running and walking the dog.

Arrived there five minutes after, paid 15 pesos for the parking, and went to our preferred exercise activity.  As you may already know, before any running takes place, you need to warm up.  So, I walked.  I probably walked too much because I ended up not running but having an early breakfast at one of my father’s favorite restos.

How can one focus with too many distractions?  With these kinds of places, do people come here to work out or eat out?  What would you do?

Age of Idolizing Ourselves?

Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, Parish Priest of the Lord of Divine Mercy Parish in Sikatuna talked about a bizarre type of idolatry: The Idolatry of Ourself.  It is bizarre because I believe you can only worship someone or something external.  Anyway, I just thought of it as something psychological.  Could he be talking about Narcissism

With all the self-help and self-improvement books found in our bookstores nowadays, I’m starting to believe our parish priest’s observation.   What is this obsession about the self?  Can we really make ourselves perfect or more valuable by reading a book and developing competencies?

Today’s First Reading reminds us to repent and turn away from idols (self-love, money, fame, power, etc).  Similarly, Buddhists say, we should renounce our ego.  Do you think this is easy for someone who thinks highly of themselves?  I don’t think so.  Repentance and renouncement of ego require humility.  When you receive a compliment, what do you say?  Thank you, I worked hard for this and therefore desserve this. Or, All glory should go to God!

Do you think this is easy?  Today’s Gospel says it isn’t.  Christian life of regular repentance and renouncement of ego is really very difficult.  But, if we remain faithful until the end, we will be saved from this earthly means.  Are you ready to end the age of narcissism?

How to Stay Productive?

After this morning’s jog with my youngest brother James and our dog Kenji, I found myself in front of the computer reading emails and some articles that captured my attention.  Then I realized, I have nothing to do for the rest of the day.  Nothing planned and no appointments.  This is terrible because this means I am, or will be, unproductive.

As a Real Estate Broker I have 5 major tasks:

  1. to obtain and update listings
  2. to adverstise or market these listings / properties
  3. to manage office
  4. to recruit salespersons and
  5. to train salespersons

And If I’m not doing any task above, you guessed it, I’m a bum.  Atleast for a day.  I know this is not written in my list, but I think this is now the most difficult and most important task: making sure everyone is busy.  Since I vowed, this kind of day will never happen again, I researched on how people stay productive.

Here’s my favorite tips on the subject:

  1. Know yourself
  2. Start the day properly
  3. Plan to work or create a to do list
  4. Isolate yourself and remove distractions
  5. Actually do what you need to do or Just do it

If these don’t work, atleast read and try to learn something new or look for someone to help.  What’s your secret in staying productive?  Please share…
